HAPPY 20th ANNIVERSARY

 

The Upper Michigan Culinarians celebrate it's 20th year in existance. Since June 9th of 1989, the Upper Peninsula chapter of the American Culinary Federation has been meeting and serving the U.P. The Yooper Chefs will be planning an appropriate celebration for this summer.

 

 

CONGRATULATION

 

 

Congratulations to Chef Nathan Mileski, CEC for becoming the newest certified member of the U.P. Chapter of the ACF. Chef Nate recently completed the final step of the process by conquering the practical exam. Chef is now the third CEC in the U.P. and only the 6th certified member of the chapter. Chef Nate also competed in the Midwest leg of the NACUFS competition. Chef was awarded a silver medal and took first place of 9 competitors. He will represent our region in the Nation event against four other regions. We are proud of Chef Nate.

  

C.O.Y DINNER

This year's Chef of the Year Dinner is coming soon. On Monday June 29th, Chef Robin Holmes,CEC and current C.O.Y. Michael Chapman will be hosting the dinner at Pacino's Food & Spirits in the Best Western of Escanaba. Please plan on being there as this event will kick of the celebrations of our 20th Anniversary. Also, the next C.O.Y will be announced. Good luck to Chef Rae Jordan and Chef Jeremy Pomeroy,CCC. The cost of the dinner will be $30. Please call 906-789-0712 to reserve a plate as seats are limited.

 

ACF's New Websites

 

ACF National recently updated it's website. It is enhanced to make the online experience of dealing with the ACF more user friendly.  National has also developed a new interactive networking website designed for chefs and culinary students. We Are Chefs is a site similar to facebook or myspace. It is an excellent place to network and communicate with others throughout the industry. I strongly encourage everybody to check out the new sites.

 

Our Chapter has it's own group on wearechefs.com, it is the Upper Michigan Culinarians Group. Start up a page of your own and join our chapter group as well as the ACF Central Region Group.
