 2010 Chef of the Year

 

 Congratulations to long time chapter member, Chef Tom Wahlstrom,CEC on winning this year's chapter Chef of the Year Award. Along with Chef Wahlstrom, Chef Eric Moe of NMU and Chef Eric Karvonen of MTU were among the well qualified candidates for the annual chapter recognition. Chef Tom was presented the honor on June 28th at the Beachcomber restaurant of The Island Resort & Casino. Last year's winner, Chef Jeremy Pomeroy,CCC hosted the event with an 8 course dinner. Chef Jeremy would like to congratulate Chef Moe and Chef Karvonen on being worthy of nomination as well as Chef Wahlstrom on the receiving the ultimate chapter acheivement. Also, thanks to all the staff that made the event a success.

 

CONGRATULATIONS! 

 

Chef Eric Moe, of NMU Dining Services, competed in this year's Regional NACUFS event in Akron, OH. Chef Moe prepared a venison stew utilizing the manditory three classical cuts (tournee required) and portobello mushroom. His entree earned him 1st Place and a Gold Medal in the ACF sanctioned event. Chef Moe represented the Midwest Region in the NACUFS National Culinary Challenge, July 8th in San Jose, CA, and received a bronze metal for his efforts. CONGRATULATIONS MOE! 2009's National winner was none other than NMU's Chef Nathan Mileski, CEC of Marquette.

 

 

LOBSTER BOIL!

 

Summer is winding down and it's time for the annual chapter get-together. This year's chapter lobster/seafood boil will be Sunday August 14th at the Mileski camp. Chapter members and guests are encouraged to bring a dish and a favorite beverage and head to Big Bay to celebrate the beautiful summer in the U.P. Along with camaradarie, wonderful food and a magical setting, selections of courses for the upcoming Heart of Gold Dinner will be decided at the "Boil".
